Knightia fish fossils represent a genus of small, freshwater fish that lived during the Eocene epoch, around 50 million years ago. These fish were abundant in the ancient freshwater lakes and rivers of North America, particularly in what is now known as the Green River Formation in Wyoming, USA. Knightia fossils are frequently found in sedimentary rock layers and are often well-preserved due to the fine grain nature of the rock.
