The Phoebis philea is an impressive butterfly. There are two to three generations per year in the Americas . The species habitat is in tropical scrub, gardens, fields, and forest edges. Orange-barred sulphurs are often found in large dense groups of mixed species, including Aphrissa statira, Phoebis argante, and Rhabdodryas trite. The underside is copper brown with a line of black white and orange ocelli black white and orange, in an arc on both the hindwings and forewings.
