Chalcosoma chiron belangeri is a genus of Southeast Asian rhinoceros beetles. The Atlas beetle belongs to the Scarabaeidae family. Chalcosoma chiron, like other beetles of the genus Chalcosoma is remarkable for its size and one of Asia's largest beetles. It can reach a length of about 90-120 millimetres (3.5-4.7 in). The males have enormous, curved horns on the head and thorax that they use to fight with each other to gain mating rights with females.
