A unique and magnificent Queen Victoria's Birdwing butterfly in a handmade wooden frame mounted on high-quality acid-free conservation board. The Latin and common names are printed underneath the specimen.
The Queen Victoria's Birdwing belongs to the Papilionidae family. It was originally known as Ornithoptera allotei, a natural hybrid between Ornithoptera victoriae and Ornithoptera priamus urvillianus. The breed is not rare, but some populations are declining due to deforestation. Minibeast is part of funding conversation projects in Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands.
These birdwings are CITES appendix II protected and all appropriate paperwork has been completed for their importation into the UK.
