4 Inch Orthoceras Pear Drop Fossil In Box Frame (Orthoceras sp)

A 10.2 cm Orthoceras pear drop fossil in a handmade wooden frame mounted on high-quality acid-free conservation board. The Latin and common names are printed underneath the specimen.

Orthoceras is an ancient cephalopod that lived about 450+ million years ago. The name means straight horn, referencing it’s long conical like shell. The preserved shell in limestone, is all that remains.

Fossil Age: Devonian

Fossil Location: Erfoud region, Morocco.

Frame: Wooden box frame with glass window and hanging clips - handmade in our workshop.

The moth is beautiful, perfectly preserved and absolutely stunning. It was packaged well and wasn't damaged whatsoever. It took longer for it to arrive, but that was due to Christmas and customs. It was a gift, and the only fault we found was that the moth had been mounted ever so slightly skewed, so it wasn't totally straight, but it doesn't distract from the beauty or elegance of the piece. The response time from the seller was also spectacular. All in all, I would definitely recommend this seller and would buy from them again without hesitation.
