The Hercules moth, is from the family Saturniidae, it is endemic to New Guinea and northern Australia. First described by William Henry Miskin in 1876. Female adults have a wingspan of about 27 cm, making it one of the largest moths found in Australia, its wings have the largest documented surface area (300 square centimeters) of any living insect.
